Application for Employment in the Tutoring and Learning Center- Math & Science Center (MASC) and Course Embedded Tutoring (CET)

We are so happy that you are interested in working for the Moorpark College Tutoring and Learning Center (MC TLC).

This form is for candidates interested in applying to become a Math and Science tutor or Course Embedded Tutor (CET) ONLY. If you are interested in applying for a Writing Tutor and/or World Language Tutor position, please return to our website to find the correct form.

TLC tutors provide academic support to students online and in person. Tutors help reinforce information learned by students as well as assist with the refining of study skills. The TLC consists of the following four programs:

  • The Math and Science Center offers tutoring on a drop by basis.
  • The Writing Center offers online appointments as well as drop in tutoring.
  • Course Embedded Tutors (CETs) are assigned to select in-person STEM classes and support students during instruction as well as in review sessions outside of class.
  • World Languages & ESL tutors offer small-group and 1:1 tutoring on a drop by basis.

    • This form contains multiple sections:

  • The first section asks about your contact information and availability.
  • The second section is related to your eligibility to become a tutor as well as information that will help us if you are hired to work in the TLC.
  • The third section asks about your education history, areas of interest, and applicable strengths.
  • The fourth section asks you to provide the contact information for a faculty recommender as well as a copy of your unofficial transcript.

    Q: I am enrolled as a student or not currently enrolled as a student at all. Am I still eligible to apply for a position as a tutor? A: Yes! Anyone can apply, regardless of enrollment status.

    Q: What are the minimum amount of hours I can be available to tutor? A: 8-10 hours.

    Q:Do I have to schedule my classes around my shifts at the TLC? A" No, we set your schedule around your class availability. You are a student first!

    Q: What is the pay rate for tutors? A: As set by the district, the current pay rate for Student Specialist I is $17.75/hr and for Student Specialist II it is $18.63/hr. Tutors with a bachelor's degree are eligible for a pay increase.

    Q: I do not have any tutoring experience... am I still eligible to apply? A: Yes, please apply! We provide robust introductory and ongoing training!
